Transformer:
It is an electrical device which is used for generating low Power into high power is called a transformer. And another meaning it is designed like that increase or decrease AC voltage between the circuit and the frequency of the current is to be maintained!!!
Types of transformer:
1 step up transformer: this type of transformer which is used for power generation and the power grid.
2 Step down transformer: This type of transformer which are used for converting high voltage (primary supply) to low voltage (secondary output)
Working principle of transformers:
1 The transformer work on Friday,s law of mutual induction:
2 The transformer consists of two seriate winds placed over the laminated silicon steel core.
3 The winding which connects the AC supply is called primary
winding And which load connected is called secondary output.
4 As we know that the alternating current is uses by transformer because alternating flux is needed for mutual induction between two winding.
5 As we know, the transformer works on Faraday, the law of electromagnetic induction and this law knows that when a magnetic field inserts the center coil it produces electromotive force (EMF). This means producing electric flux, which is electric current. This phenomenon is called electromagnetic induction.
6 As we know The direction of induced emf is opposite to the applied voltage (primary voltage)
POWER LOSSES IN TRANSFORMER:
Eddy current losses:
Cause:
The variation of magnetic flux causes the increase in temperature on the surface of the iron core.
Reduction:
To reduce the eddy, the current core is laminated .
Hysteresis losses:
Cause:
Reverse of magnetization loss energy due to internal fraction of iron.
Reduction: T
To alloy iron(perm alloy) is used for iron core or
Copper losses:
Cause:
Resistance of copper wire
Reduction:
By using thick suitable wire.
Flux losses:
Cause:
Dear all, when some of the flux lines do not pass from primary to
secondary to the core, this is called power loss. This is the major reason which are facing when traveling this kind of flux
Those transformers which have no energy losses is called ideal transformer and it
is theoretical modal.
1 Winding resistance is negligible.
2 The copper losses are negligible.
3 The core iron losses are negligible.
4 All the flux setup by primary links the secondary windings i.e no magnetic.
5 The magnetization curve for the core is linear.
